High Altitude endorsement

Although 14 CFR section 61.31(g) applies only to pilots who fly pressurized airplanes with a service ceiling or maximum operating altitude above 25,000 feet MSL, whichever is lower, this training is recommended for all pilots who fly at altitudes above 10,000 feet MSL.

Contents of the training : 4 h ground school followed by a flight higher than FL250..

Theoretical part:
  • High altitude aerodynamics;
  • Weather;
  • Physiology;
  • Pressurization;
  • Hypoxia, hyper-ventilation, supplemental oxygen;
  • Airspaces, regulations.

Flight:
  • Specific pre-flight checks;
  • Use of pressurization;
  • Simulated pressurization failure, use of oxygen, emergency descent.
